Morocco is rapidly modernizing its airport infrastructure ahead of the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which it will co-host. These extensive upgrades will not only enhance the country’s aviation facilities but also play a crucial role in supporting the rising influx of tourists.
To prepare for the surge in travel demand for the 2030 World Cup, Morocco is investing in comprehensive airport expansion projects across the country.
Several of Morocco’s regional airports are undergoing major expansion and renovation to meet the needs of future passengers. These projects are expected to increase capacity significantly and provide more modern amenities for travelers. Some of the most notable developments include:
Marrakech Menara Airport: One of the busiest airports in the country, it will see its terminal expanded by 142,000 square meters, pushing its capacity to 16 million passengers annually. This expansion also includes the addition of more parking facilities, improving overall visitor experience.
Tangier Ibn Battouta Airport: To accommodate the growing demand, a new 95,000-square-meter terminal will be constructed, increasing passenger capacity to 7 million passengers annually. This terminal will feature upgraded control towers and redesigned parking areas to streamline operations and enhance convenience for travelers.
Agadir Al Massira Airport: With a growing number of international visitors, this airport is expanding its terminal by 75,000 square meters, improving its capacity to 7 million passengers annually. In addition, external infrastructure like parking spaces will be modernized to better serve travelers.
Fes-Saiss Airport: Feasibility studies are in progress to increase the annual capacity of this airport to 5 million passengers, with plans for a 45,000-square-meter terminal and enhanced road access.
