Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Hyderabad concluded the year 2025 with a significant milestone, handling 31 million passengers and registering double-digit growth. The impressive passenger traffic reflects the growing demand for air travel in Telangana and the surrounding regions. The airport continues to cement its position as one of India’s busiest aviation hubs, catering to both domestic and international travelers.

As part of its ambitious transit hub strategy, airport authorities have announced plans for a new terminal to accommodate the increasing passenger volumes. The expansion project aims to enhance the airport’s capacity and improve connectivity for travelers using Hyderabad as a transit point. The development is expected to position RGIA as a major gateway for international and domestic air traffic in the coming years.

According to the planned timeline, the master plan for the new terminal is scheduled to be completed during 2025. Following the master plan approval, land levelling activities are set to commence in 2026, marking the beginning of the physical development phase.
