Black History Month UK 2025- Standing Firm in Power and Pride I Part One
This year’s theme honours the resilience, dignity, and leadership of Black communities across the UK. It’s a call to recognise the power of collective action—from historical movements like the Bristol Bus Boycott to modern campaigns for economic empowerment—and the pride rooted in cultural identity, heritage, and excellence. For members of the British Aviation Group, this is an opportunity to reflect on the contributions of Black professionals in aviation and related sectors, and to commit to greater inclusion and visibility.
The limited availability of sector-specific data on Black representation highlights the need for greater transparency. For British Aviation Group members, this is a call to action: to support data collection, share insights, and foster inclusive practices. By standing firm in power and pride, we can build a more equitable future across aviation, construction, and supply chain sectors.

Black History Month Series I Part Two
Stories Behind the Statistics
We began our Black History Month series by sharing key statistics that reveal what representation looks like across aviation, construction and the wider transport and infrastructure landscape.
This week we focus on the people behind the numbers.
Through a series of anonymous quotes and lived experiences, we explore what these statistics mean in practice. These stories speak of pride, barriers and the systems that either enable or restrict inclusion.
We also begin to look at the cost of exclusion. Missed innovation. Avoidable slippage. Value left on the table. When equity is not embedded in everyday practice, opportunity and potential are lost.

Black History Month Series I Part Three
As we close our three part Black History Month series, we reflect on the journey from statistics to stories to the real cost of exclusion across aviation, construction and the wider transport and infrastructure landscape. Today we conclude with support and solutions, centring allyship as a daily practice and calling on all of us to act for every marginalised community through an intersectional lens so everyone feels seen, valued and able to belong.
