On 30 June 2020, the Prime Minister announced an independent review, led by Sir Peter Hendy, of how the quality and availability of transport infrastructure across the UK can support economic growth and quality of life across the whole of the UK. The government has now launched the consultation for The Union Connectivity Review, which will review how transport can support economic growth and quality of life across the UK. This will include aviation links. The review will consider the quality and reliability of major connections across the UK; likely current and future demand for transport links; the environmental impact of policy options (including with regard to climate change); and existing work completed by the government on cross-UK connectivity.
