The British Aviation Group supports the need for the Government to arrive at a robust solution for providing the much needed additional capacity for London’s airports but is increasingly concerned about the length of time that it is taking to reach a firm decision.  The length of time in reaching a decision is affecting not just those who live and work in the proximity of Heathrow and Gatwick but is creating further uncertainty across the UK and around the world.  The British Aviation Group urges those involved to achieve a rapid resolution of the matters raised so that a decision can be made as soon as possible to enable the communities to move on and for the industry to rebuild relationships strained through the process of the Commission.

Chris Chalk, Chairman of the British Aviation Group, said “assuming that a decision is made next summer the whole process will have taken the same time that it will have taken Turkey to design and build the world’s largest new airport in Istanbul adding significantly to their competitiveness.”
