Work has started on the site of a new airport and transport hub in Poland billed as "the largest transport investment in Europe".

More than 1,000ha of land have been bought for the central Polish airport, and the process to find a development partner is well underway.

London-based architects Foster + Partners created concept designs for the project, including the terminal and railway station. Arup drew up the masterplan.

The first phase of the CPK airport, sometimes known as the Solidarity Transport Hub, will feature two runways and terminal infrastructure for up to 40M passengers annually. This is due to complete in 2028, with further phases expected to follow as demand grows. The ambition is to build two further runways and serve 100M customers annually.
