The $1 billion package is just a fraction of the government's investment.

Earlier today [07 July 2022], the United States Department of Transportation's Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced that it will fund 85 airport improvement projects throughout the United States. The funding amounts to nearly $1 billion and is part of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law created by President Joe Biden.

The United States government has been on quite the spending spree lately, with President Biden's Bipartisan Infrastructure Law investing $20 billion in US airports. In addition to this law, the FAA announced almost $1.5 billion in aid over the last two months as part of the Airport Improvement Program. The funding has been awarded in three parts, $608 million on May 12, $518 million on June 7, and $371 million on July 1.

The grants announced today are dedicated to improving airport terminal capacity throughout the country, increasing accessibility for passengers with disabilities, increasing energy efficiency, and promoting competition.
