Stansted Airport seems set to have its terminal expansion plans approved while Bristol Airport is commencing on a £60M enhancement project.

Stansted

To start with, it is looking to expand the back of the terminal building by “three bays” – an extension of 54m towards the airfield. It will span the existing breadth of the Norman Foster designed building and be three storeys high, housing the concourse, mezzanine and undercroft.

This will require the partial demolition of the track transit system (people mover) and the full demolition of a standalone bus-gate building and two  two “skylink” walkways to existing aircraft satellite piers.

Bristol

The £60M investment will go towards a new public transportation interchange hub, an additional multi-storey car park, a glazed bridge link between the car parks and terminal, a new waiting area and rest facilities and enhanced customer facilities including an enlarged drop off and pick up area.
