Work is progressing on Mexico’s new Felipe Ángeles International Airport, with Alstef Group’s 120 check-in BHS on schedule to serve passengers in early 2022

At the greenfield site of Mexico City’s Felipe Ángeles International Airport, Alstef Group project teams are hard at work installing the new baggage handling system simultaneous to the construction of the airport terminal and runway.

The first phase of the airport, due to open in the first quarter of 2022, is being built on an existing military airport site where, during the initial excavation, the remains of more than 200 mammoths were uncovered. The airport construction is being project managed by the Secretariat of National Defence (SEDENA) and once open will ease congestion at Benito Juárez International Airport.

The baggage system contract is the largest that has been awarded to the Alstef Group, whose offer was chosen for its comprehensive provision of flexibility and scalability, redundancy and economies.
