Airports in the country have been asked to track their carbon emissions.

Pushing forwards with its goal of a sustainable aviation culture in India, the government will now keep an eye on the carbon emissions of all airports in the country. The announcement is the latest in a series of other efforts, which aim to reduce the carbon footprint of the aviation sector in India.

On Tuesday, India’s Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia announced that he has made it mandatory for all airports in the country to conduct a carbon-mapping exercise. This is being to get a better idea about the direct and indirect sources of emissions at airports.
