ACI EUROPE claims that the combined efforts of the continent’s airports to reduce their carbon emissions was a highlight of ACI’s Airport Carbon Accreditation annual report for 2021-2022, published today.

Indeed, it goes as far as to state that European progress made within the global carbon standard for airports emerged as the standout star.

ACI EUROPE director general, Olivier Jankovec, said: “Against a challenging backdrop of a stop-start COVID-19 recovery and volatile operating environment, I am delighted by the ongoing momentum for airport climate action demonstrated in the results published today (14 March 2023).

In the period covered by the newly published report, European airports outperformed the global growth factor with a 32% increase in participation numbers, reaching 204 accredited airports at the end of the programme year (May 2021-May 2022).
