Congress closed out 2022 by passing a 4,000-page omnibus spending bill that includes $24 billion for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Of that amount, AIP is funded at $3.35 billion, with an additional $550 million in supplemental appropriations and earmarked projects. The FAA issued a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for $268 million of the supplemental funding soliciting applications for "airport construction projects, associated capital planning, noise planning, and mitigation projects, and energy and environmental sustainability projects." Applications will be accepted through January 31, 2023. An additional $2.9 billion in the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) funding is available to airports in FY 2023 as well.
