Welcome to the first edition of BAG’s Missions Activity Update

We are very excited to be sharing the first regular Update from the BAG Missions Working Group. In today’s update we would firstly like to introduce the Missions Working Group and outline its aims and activities. We are also highlighting some key statistics about BAG’s Mission Activity over the past 5 years and especially our work over the past 18 months during the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. We will outline how BAG has adapted its missions programme and even increased its activities and how as a trade body we have successfully engaged with our stakeholders and members throughout a challenging time.

Our programme of missions activity includes virtual missions, inward visits, and outward missions, and is coordinated with the Department for International Trade (DIT). Our work helps companies to identify where opportunities exist, meet with government officials, airport authorities, contractors and key decision makers on international airport developments, as well as gain insight into trading with specific countries.

We hope you find this new communication useful and I am looking forward to any feedback and inputs you have for our work moving forwards.

What is the BAG Missions Working Group?
The BAG Missions Working Group is one of the BAG Boards’ dedicated Working Groups whose purpose is to connect BAG Members with Opportunities Abroad. The Working Group acts as the lead in the organisation and implementation of missions for BAG and connections with the Department for International Trade’s (DIT’s) connections in Embassies around the world.

We have developed, in partnership with UK DIT, a multi-stage approach to Market Engagement, building relationships and sharing knowledge between the UK supply chain and overseas entities planning aviation development.

Looking Ahead

As the UK’s representative body for the aviation supply chain, we are acutely aware of the issues that our clients around the world have faced and are still facing as an airport operator/owner. For our part, we continue to seek opportunities to bring our membership together to share best practice and debate future developments, as well as to liaise with client organisations around the world, where we believe we can be supportive. In addition to these activities, we are looking to sustain the aviation community at a time when many are transferring to other areas, doing so with an eye on the future need, to reinstate capacity for our sector. We are looking forward to building back better and to collaborating with our global clients as a sustainable, diverse and inclusive supply chain to provide the best services and products our clients are looking for.

We always welcome your involvement and input to help us to understand your needs and shape the agenda for our activity moving forwards. We are really looking forward to your feedback and further thoughts, so please don’t hesitate to get in touch via the BAG Secretariat.
