The Spring 2021 Edition of the Airport Operator is out now! Packed with interesting insights into the UK airport industry, this is the magazine you don't want to miss.

COVID-19 impacts and the AOA Airport Recovery Plan
The Airport Operator takes a deep-dive into the impacts of the pandemic on UK airports. The AOA's Airport Recovery Plan also features and outlines how the UK and devolved governments can ensure the UK has the best possible aviation recovery. Each of the airport leaders interviewed in this edition touches on how their airports have been affected but also looks at what a recovery could look like.

Interviews include Dave Lees (Bristol Airport) and Pete Downes (Cornwall Airport Newquay), but also contributions from Richard Moriarty, CEO of the CAA, and Simon McNamara, UK & Ireland Country Manager for IATA.

There's also an in-depth look at the work of the AOA Health & Safety Group, and particularly how COVID-19 has helped bring them together to share best practice.

Planning for future growth

While we may currently see a fraction of normal passenger levels passing through our airports, this does not mean that the airports don't continue to have ambitions for sustainable growth. Airport Operator reports on progress for Leeds Bradford Airport, London Stansted Airport and Southampton Airport

Gibraltar’s Tourism Minister, Vijay Daryanani, highlights an entirely different perspective on future growth. Thanks to a preliminary agreement between the UK, Spanish and Gibraltar Governments, the whole of the EU Schengen area may soon be opened up to Gibraltar Airport.

Airports at the heart of the economy and communities

Guest contributions from Simon Jupp, MP for Exeter, and Matthew Fell, CBI Chief UK Policy Director, highlight the important role airports play in their communities and the wider economy. Matthew highlights that from a business perspective, airports and aviation need to be at the heart of the Government's vision for the UK's post-Brexit and post-pandemic future.

Airports as future freeports

With applications for freeport status having closed, Airport Operator gives you the essential overview of the bids that have gone in from Bournemouth Airport, Carlisle Lake District Airport, Doncaster Sheffield Airport, East Midlands Airport, Heathrow Airport, London Gatwick Airport, Newcastle International Airport and Teesside International Airport.
