Spain’s global airport operator, Aena, has announced that it made a net profit of €163.8 million in the first half of 2022 – nearly a 150% rise on its results for the corresponding period a year ago when it reported a huge €346.4 million loss.
The turnaround in its fortunes means that Aena is in profit for the first quarter of 2020, when it earned €23.1 million.
Its Spanish airports handled 105 million passengers in the first six months of 2022, which is equivalent to 82% of the traffic in the first half of 2019, before the pandemic.
