Austin's Airport, Austin-Bergstrom International Airport , or unofficially, "ABIA", is nearly busting at the seams as many airlines continue to add service to the field.
Thankfully, in partnership with the city of Austin, ABIA has hatched a highly detailed primary plan to accommodate the airport's expected growth for years to come.
In 2024, the airport announced "Journey With AUS", the airport's multi-year improvement and expansion action plan.
The program features multi-decade innovations, including near- and long-term consumer-facing projects, in addition to several airport infrastructure initiatives designed to increase the longevity of the field.
The list below displays the near-term projects that are all expected to be completed by the end of next year.
- Outbound Baggage Handling System
- Atrium Infill
- TSA Checkpoint 3 Expansion
- West Side Of Barbra Jordan Terminal Renovation
- International Arrivals Improvements
The most notable improvements happening in the near term at AUS are the new baggage handling system and the west side's terminal renovations.
