UK Export Finance
21 July 2025

UKEF has today published its Annual Report and Accounts (ARA) for 2024/25.

The ARA highlights how UKEF remains firmly committed to ensuring UK businesses can unlock their true export potential. It was a recording breaking successful year, in which we provided £14.5 billion to support exporters of all sizes. This has resulted in an estimated £5.4 billion contribution to the economy ensuring companies can continue to trade and grow. It has also supported up to 70,000 jobs across the entire UK in various key sectors such as advanced manufacturing and life sciences.

We are pleased to be fulfilling our Business Plan objective of supporting SMEs, as these businesses remain the lifeblood of our economy. Last year we supported nearly 500 SMEs, thanks in part to changes which have made it easier for smaller businesses to access UKEF-backed financing. Over 80% of SMEs supported by UKEF were based outside of London.

Sustainability and helping the transition to a low-carbon economy are key priorities for UKEF, demonstrated by the provision of £2.3 billion of clean growth financing, supporting priority sectors like offshore wind and gigafactories. We also secured agreement through the Net Zero Export Credit Agencies Alliance for the first-ever set of decarbonisation target-setting protocols for Export Credit Agencies and Export-Import banks

UKEF’s offer remains essential to achieving the Government’s mission for economic growth, highlighted by the new Industrial and Trade strategies. These set out how the Government will leverage the state’s unique ability to ‘crowd in’ private investment. This includes a boost to our direct lending capacity to a total of £13 billion – with £3 billion of that reserved for defence, and the launch of our brand-new product to support domestic suppliers selling critical minerals products to UK exporters.

Thank you for your ongoing collaboration and partnership to help exporters across the UK realise their goals and trade overseas, driving economic growth and job creation.
