In its response to last week’s court decision on runway three, Heathrow noted all appeals against the government – including on “noise” and “air quality” – had been dismissed, apart from one, which the airport said “is eminently fixable”.
The airport noted judicial reviews were a common feature of major infrastructure projects, and the announcement explicitly did not prevent Heathrow expansion moving ahead.
The statement continued: “The judges now require the government to undertake more work to ensure a third runway would definitely be compatible with a strategy to mitigate climate change under the Paris Agreement.
