The Airports Commission should have made stronger recommendations about how Britain’s smaller airports can help the country tackle its capacity crisis until a new runway is built in the south east, according to the owner of Stansted, the country’s fastest growing airport. Charlie Cornish, the chief executive of Stansted parent Manchester Airports Group, said the Essex airport would be “absolutely key” to relieving pressure in the short-term, because it is far from reaching full capacity.
