Southend Airport has seen passenger numbers more than double in the first four months of 2025.
The latest figures from the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has revealed a 106 per cent increase in passengers between January and April 2025.
This makes it the country's fastest-growing airport.
Its closest competitor was Biggin Hill, a general aviation airport, with a 67 per cent rise, followed by Londonderry in Northern Ireland with a 56 per cent increase over the same period.
The UK-wide average growth is 3.2 per cent.
Among London's airports, the average growth is 1.7 percent compared to 2024 figures.
