Officials said 2018 saw a 43% decrease in emissions despite a record 2m passengers over the past two years. This equals a 10.9% emission decrease per passenger, the energy used if each passenger watched TV for 56hr.
More than 90% of the lighting is LED, and the airport has seen a 6.9% decrease in electricity consumption. Southampton was the first UK airport to use LED lighting on aircraft stands and also has 11 car charging points at the short-stay car park.
