The Bay Area’s major airport — San Francisco International — appeared to have the most security breaches in the country in a survey by the Associated Press. But the report simply suggests a need for more data and attention, not flier panic.

The AP’s analysis was inspired by a shocking story from last spring about a 15-year-old boy who climbed a fence at San Jose International Airport, hid in a jet wheel well, and survived a flight to Hawaii. Most breaches are far less dramatic: a confused traveler, a wandering homeless person.
