A former general manager of Prestwick Airport is set to return as interim chief executive, following the departure of Iain Cochrane.
The appointment of Richard Jenner follows a management shake-up at the loss-making airport.
Mr Jenner is a former managing director of Norwich and Humberside airports and was at Prestwick's helm in the 1990s.
Before that, he spent 12 years as chief executive of Kilmarnock and Loudon District Council.
Management changes have been made as the airport bids to return to profitability after being bought by the Scottish government for £1 in November 2013 amid fears it would close.
Last month, it was announced that chief executive Iain Cochrane would step down after 20 years at the airport. Chief commercial officer Graeme Sweenie has also left.
In June, four non-executive directors were added to its board. They included former communications chief of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, Gordon Arthur, and former Port of Dover chief executive Bob Goldfield.
