David Pekoske, the Administrator of the Transport Security Administration ( TSA ), has informed his staff that the now-inaugurated United States President told him to step down from his role with immediate effect.

Pekoske, who began serving as the Administrator of the TSA in 2017, has been told to step down by the inaugurated Trump administration with immediate effect, CNN reported, citing four sources familiar with the matter.

The outlet added that Pekoske was told to leave his post with immediate effect, ending his seven-year stint at the helm of the TSA. Donald Trump, the President of the US, picked the official to serve as the head of the government agency in August 2017, with his successor, Joe Biden, extending his tenure at the TSA in September 2022.
