Blackpool's threatened airport needs an owner to stay with it for the "long term", an MP has said. Paul Maynard, Conservative MP for Blackpool North and Cleveleys, wants talks with the owners of the airport, which could close on 15 October. Mr Maynard said he was "very concerned". Balfour Beatty, who bought the airport in 2008, put it up for sale in August and said on Monday it will close unless a buyer is found by 7 October. "I'm not surprised at the news, it requires substantial investment and the airport needs more than a medium term plan," the MP said.
