Pascall+Watson’s design for Stansted Airport’s new £130m Arrivals Terminal has received planning approval by Uttlesford District Council.
The development is part of Manchester Airports Group’s (M.A.G, owners of Stansted Airport) multi-million pound transformation to support future growth and attract new passengers and airlines.
Located adjacent to the existing terminal, the proposed new 34,000m2 building uniquely relocates all arrivals functions to a separate state-of-the art facility, enabling the existing building to be reconfigured to service a dedicated departures operation.
A high quality passenger environment is created with an enhanced immigration and baggage reclaim area, spacious arrivals concourse, distinct retail experience and a welcoming public forecourt.
The design focuses on a modular sky-lit roof floating above generous double height spaces. The soffit design reflects the single directional nature of the facility, which combined with the building’s functional planning, provides an intuitive passenger journey.
The bespoke design complements the architecture of the existing building and will transform the travelling experience of millions of people passing through Stansted Airport every year.
