Youth Futures Foundation is funding the expansion and evaluation of Workwhile's DevelopMentor programme, which provides practical support for managers and supervisors in small and medium-sized businesses to help them better support young apprentices.

The programme includes four 90-minute online training sessions and two one-to-one coaching sessions, designed to build managers' skills and confidence in supporting young people to thrive, progress and succeed at work.

The programme is also being evaluated through a Randomised Controlled Trial (RCT), generating evidence on whether line management training can improve outcomes for young apprentices. Participating employers will be randomly allocated to one of two groups:

  • DevelopMentor programme: access to the four online training sessions and two coaching sessions.
  • Good Work Health Check: access to a free self-assessment tool and tailored report, providing recommendations to help businesses improve their employment practices.

Both options are fully funded, so there is no financial cost to participating employers.

Employers interested in finding out more can attend one of two free information webinars on 12th November and 8th December, or by visiting: https://workwhile.org.uk/projects/developmentor/
