Airport shopping can be stressful for people with accessibility issues, but the solutions can be simpler than retailers think
Accessibility has long been part of the vocabulary of the aviation business. Airports have been active in improving their built environments to cater for all types of user needs – but less so when it comes to their retail stores.
Airport trade association ACI World recently launched a guide to accessible travel, which builds on its Airports & Persons with Disabilities Handbook. The guide includes best practices for creating barrier-free infrastructure and accessible design to support the needs of people with visible or hidden disabilities.
