Ocean 3D, a proud member of the British Aviation Group and its Diversity, Equity and Inclusion working group, continues to demonstrate how inclusive technology can transform lives and unlock commercial value — whether in the departure lounge of a US airport or among the hillside graves of a quiet Italian town.
Our latest aviation project, featured in International Airport Review, highlights how Brownsville South Padre Island International Airport (BRO) — situated near SpaceX, LNG terminals and South Padre’s growing tourism economy — is using our interactive virtual tour to support accessibility, reduce stress, and help passengers prepare with confidence. The cloud-based, WCAG-compliant platform allows users to explore terminals, check-in areas, security, restrooms, and assistance points in advance. The result is improved satisfaction, greater independence, and a smoother operational flow.
Meanwhile, in the beautiful, sleepy hilltop town of Moliterno, Southern Italy, we quietly created a tour of the town’s cemetery to help the local elderly and infirm, as well as ex-pats, visit and pay respects to their loved ones. The mayor’s simple Facebook post sharing the link sparked over 14,000 views in a single day; more than four times the local population. Dozens of very moving messages followed from people finally able to visit a relative’s resting place, sometimes for the first time in decades. The tour is now live on the community website but the phenomenal response and outpuring of emotion it has produced is a powerful reminder that accessibility is not only about physical access. It is also about memory, identity, and human connection.
Ocean 3D’s tours, in incorporation with AVA Access™ patented WCAG compliance tool, is supported by legal opinion from Louise Mankau KC of Doughty Street Chambers, confirming that virtual tours may constitute a reasonable adjustment under the Equality Act 2010 and as an anticipatory requirement. This has recently been formally noted by the Cabinet Office following letters from supportive MPs including Sir Stephen Timms and, former MP and respected authour of The previous Governments 'Buckland Review', Sir Robert Buckland KC.
Accessibility isn't just a moral nicety or a legal requirement to be ticked, it's actually a significant commercial opportunity, driving new customers and building brand advocacy. When people feel prepared, welcome, and reassured, everyone benefits.
