Morocco's National Airport Office (ONDA) has unveiled an ambitious tender worth over one billion U.S. dollars for the development of a new terminal at Casablanca's Mohammed V International Airport.
The planned terminal will cover a large area of 600,000 square meters and is designed to initially be able to accommodate 20 million passengers annually. The terminal's capacity will be able to be expanded to 30 million passengers as demand increases.
The design of the new terminal features an H-shaped structure, designed in collaboration with international architectural firms, including Ala Concept, RSHP Architects and Egis Bâtiment International. The layout includes a central building flanked by two wings, as well as plans for a new runway and an air traffic control tower, all aimed at improving the airport's efficiency and operational flow.
The tender for the construction is divided into nine separate packages, each with a dedicated scope of work. The total implementation period for the entire project is set at 40 months. Additional tenders will be issued for aviation-related infrastructure, external works and technical installations, which will complement the functionality of the new terminal.
