ENAC and SEA announce that the approval process for the infrastructural development that will allow Malpensa to grow in the coming years has been completed

The State-Region agreement has officially approved the urban planning compliance of the 2019-2035 Master Plan of Milan Malpensa airport. Thanks to this important approval, Malpensa can now proceed with the start of the works envisaged by the infrastructure development plan, which aims to support the estimated growth of passenger and freight traffic in a fully sustainable way and in line with the requirements of the EIA Decree and territorial agreements.

Among the main works:

  • Passenger Terminal expansion: to efficiently accommodate an estimated traffic volume of 40 million passengers by 2035.
  • Aircraft parking areas: new infrastructures to optimize air traffic management.
  • Runway and taxiway system: operational improvements with new taxiways and fittings to increase efficiency and reduce aircraft transit times.
  • intermodal infrastructures: areas dedicated to innovative transport systems to ensure better integration between the various means of mobility.
  • Warehouses and cargo services: new second-line facilities to enhance logistics capacity and support freight traffic.
