London Gatwick has seen its number of US flights reduced considerably. According to Cirium Diio data, 220 departures are planned in July 2026. That is down by 32% compared to the same month in 2025. Other than during the pandemic, no July since 2013 has had so few services. This reflects the situation as of September 1 and is subject to change.

Gatwick has fallen from being Europe's 17th busiest airport for US services to 18th. While this might not seem like a significant drop, it means Edinburgh Airport now has more. The Scottish capital will be the UK's second airport for US flights next summer.

Despite only returning to the UK's second-busiest airport in 2023, Delta will end its New York JFK-Gatwick flights in September, and they will not return next year. This means it'll pull out of the airport (again), enabling it to use its JFK slots for other routes. Not coincidentally, this development came after British Airways disclosed that it would end its JFK (and also Las Vegas) flights in October. Likewise, BA will use its slots where it sees more opportunity.
