A new bank of solar panels installed on the roof of Jersey Airport’s cargo terminal has officially begun generating electricity, in what officials describe as a significant boost for the island’s renewable-energy ambitions.
According to Jersey Electricity, the array spans roughly 3,200 square metres and is expected to produce close to 420,000 kWh of electricity each year—enough to supply the annual consumption of around 60 all-electric homes. The system is designed to deliver that output consistently for the next quarter-century.
