Learning from other sectors and breaking silos are essential in enabling the supply chain to deliver airport owners’ ambitious plans, Jacobs global market solutions director for aviation Cheryl McNall told NCE.

“Airports are in a space where they need to do more with less,” she emphasised. Apart from maintaining the safety and security of passengers, McNall pointed to airport owners’ objectives around operational efficiency, sustainability and digitalisation.

“Digital tools and use of data are taking centre stage and this is driving new ways of operating an airport which need to be embedded into the processes,” McNall said.

Heathrow Airport Limited’s (HAL’s) Efficient Airport Programme aims to improve resilience, reduce total cost of operation, maintain service standards and provide targeted service improvements.
