Builders received the green light to begin construction on Jacksonville International Airport’s third parking garage.

The $92 million project is set to add around 2,000 spaces, and work is expected to be complete by 2026.

Site plans show the structure will span 151,009 square feet. RS&H Inc is the engineer for the project, and BV & Associates is the surveyor, according to the plans.

Balfour Beatty Construction LLC, is working on construction for the site and received a building permit from the city Monday.

Work on the project includes the design and construction of a six-level, reinforced concrete parking garage structure next to the existing six-level daily parking garage structure at the airport.

The Jacksonville Aviation Authority ratified $37 million in funding for Balfour Beatty Construction LLC to do work on JIA's third parking garage in November.
