Ireland West (Knock) Airport Chief, Joe Gilmore has called on the Government to be “brave“ and invest in transport infrastructure in the West.

Managing Director, Joe Gilmore says the airport needs better transport links and that includes re-opening of the Western Rail Corridor from Sligo to Galway and an improved N17.

Mr Gilmore sees no reason why the same investment in transport infrastructure along the Eastern coast cannot be replicated in the West.

He says the West needs these upgraded transport links and called on the Government to start making “brave” decisions in this regard. Reopening the entire railway – which would open the door for a new bus link from Charlestown to Knock Airport  - is now a “no-brainer” according to Mr. Gilmore...
