Airport expansion is a key driver for regional and economic growth and should be encouraged if the demand is there, according to one of the minds behind the Luton Airport expansion plan.

London Luton Airport is run by local economic development company Luton Rising, a Luton Council-owned company. In early April, the company was granted a development consent order (DCO) to expand the airport by broadening its boundaries and constructing a new terminal.

“An airport drives economic growth in the region that it sits within,” Luton Rising managing director Nick Platts told NCE. “For Luton itself, [airport expansion] is its remaining opportunity for big investment, for big job growth.”
