Mandatory evacuation orders continue in several areas of Florida, millions of people are on alert, Tampa's airport is shutting down and theme parks are scaling back operations as Hurricane Ian continues its trek toward the Gulf Coast.
The storm is expected to bring life threatening storm surge of up to 10 feet and damaging winds. The impacts could be catastrophic.
Tampa International Airport will suspend all operations at 5 p.m. tomorrow, the airport tweeted a few minutes ago. A previous announcement from the airport said it would stay open "until a closure is necessary" and shut down when sustained winds hit 50 mph.
