Work is underway to assess where the Vantaa Light Rail line could end within the core area of Helsinki Airport, following approval of the project’s updated plan by Vantaa City Council on 17 November.
The Vantaa light rail alliance will now collaborate with Finavia to determine the most practical location for the tramway’s final stop.
The supplementary planning effort will examine two potential alignments near the airport terminals. One option places the stop on Terminaalitie, while the other positions it on Teletie. Both would require adjustments to airport operations or adjacent infrastructure. According to Finavia, the Terminaalitie option would affect ground traffic routes within the airport area, whereas the Teletie option would require changes to parts of the apron used by aircraft.
