As of 06:00 AM on Sunday, February 22, the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will suspend its TSA PreCheck and Global Entry programs amid a funding shortage. This announcement comes at short notice, as a consequence of Republicans and Democrats failing to secure an agreement on immigration enforcement reform.

While the DHS has been on partial shutdown, airlines within the country are urging the relevant parties to reach an agreement soon. A prolonged shutdown could harm efforts to maintain border security and compromise the passenger experience at airports.
