Coronavirus (COVID-19) Business Support Bulletin

This week we have seen the Prime Minister set out a conditional plan for how we will start to reopen parts of our society. We welcome publication of this new strategy and the guidance on safe working conditions. Today’s announcement from the Chancellor, extending the Job Retention Scheme to October, is a further good step that will protect jobs and give employers vital flexibility to manage operations during a prolonged period of suppressed demand.

ADS is disappointed by the Government’s quarantine proposal for international air passengers. Whilst we recognise and share the objective of minimising risk of infections, but feel this would be best achieved through putting in place internationally agreed protocols to keep passenger healthy. Building public confidence to enable the resumption of flying is a critical starting point for recovery in our industry and sectors across the economy that rely on global movement of people and goods. We are in touch with the Department of Transport and emphasising that any measures must not undermine the pace of recovery.

As we begin to move into the next phase of COVID-19 response, we will remain in regular touch with the Government to ensure industry gets the right information and support it needs.
