A 7% increase in numbers over the previous total has given Cardiff Airport a new record for the 12 months to the end of April with more than 1.6m passengers using the facility. It was the airport’s busiest year since 2009.
Passenger growth for April itself was 20% up over the same month last year, at 126,399, with officials saying it reflected the airport’s position not only as a point of departure but also as a key international gateway for visitors to the UK.
