Canada's busiest airport, Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ), is set for a significant facelift; with its latest announcement, it will receive billions of dollars through a decade-long infrastructure upgrade, as facilitated through its Pearson LIFT (Long-term Investment in Facilities and Terminals initiative). Its first stage will be launched immediately, with executives already working on a procurement process with design, construction, and technology companies.
Overall, the plan is to nurture Toronto Pearson into an airport that is prepared for rapid growth, to what it has estimated will reach more than 65 million by 2030. Apparent signs of transformation will be modernizing airport assets, developing high-speed taxi lanes to accelerate aircraft movements, upgrading airport lighting, temporary terminal improvements, and investing in alternative power generation to enable the airport to meet its net-zero targets.
