Campaigners are considering an appeal after the High Court dismissed a legal challenge to the transport secretary’s decision to approve the expansion of Luton Airport.

Following the ruling, Ladacan said it was considering an appeal. The group had said the expansion would lead to significant local environmental harm and that the climate impacts, both direct and indirect, had not been properly governed in the planning decision.

If Ladacan pursues an appeal it would be heard by the Court of Appeal and could raise further questions about how aviation emissions, especially cross-border flights and non-CO2 impacts, should be treated in national planning decisions...
