The Colombian civil aviation authority (Aeronáutica Civil) has certified the use of a Category III (CAT III) Instrument Landing System (ILS) in Bogotá’s El Dorado International Airport (BOG). By employing this ILS CAT III, airlines landing in Bogotá will be able to do so even when there is complex and adverse weather at the airport.

On Tuesday [16 Aug 2022], Aeronáutica Civil said that, after a lengthy certification process, it had allowed the use of an ILS CAT III system in Bogotá’s El Dorado runway 13L. Employing this ILS will allow the landing of technologically-equipped aircraft even in low-visibility conditions, increasing operational safety.
