In response to the increasing number of passengers and air traffic at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA), Bengaluru, the authorities are exploring the construction of a second international airport near the city.
The Airport Authority of India (AAI) has instructed a survey of the taluks around Bengaluru to identify suitable locations for the second airport.
Under the leadership of Karnataka Large and Medium Industries Minister MB Patil, officials are actively planning the construction of the second airport.
Surveys have been conducted in areas near Solur and Dabaspet, located between Nelamangala and Magadi taluks, which have been identified as suitable locations due to their strategic position and infrastructure connections.
