New Zealand's gateway to a winter wonderland, Queenstown International Airport (ZQN), is set to improve its customer experience. The latest announcement will upgrade the airport's domestic departure and screening area.
Queenstown Airport Corporation (QAC) will rearrange the current layout to create a larger terminal area with enhanced amenities. Key elements include a fourth screening lane alongside a landside cafe and exterior seating.
This is the latest stage of airport upgrades destined for the Central Otago airport. It is renowned for its breathtaking mountainous approach and proximity to world-class ski resorts, shopping, and wine.
Extensive hoarding will be installed throughout the terminal while the upgrades take place. However, most construction will occur at night to lower any impact on current operations. With the resort town famous all year round, QAC hopes to have the most disruptive stages completed before the southern hemisphere winter rush, with the project completed by spring.
