The African Union Commission (AUC) is advancing two major aviation initiatives aimed at unlocking infrastructure investment and accelerating cross-border connectivity, officials said at an industry workshop took place in Nairobi from February 25th to 26th, 2026.
Speaking at the Airlines Awareness Workshop on Capital & Connectivity, organised by the African Airlines Association and the African Development Bank, Eng. Eric Ntagengerwa, Head of Transport and Mobility Division at African Union Commission, outlined what he described as “catalytic” programmes designed to transform Africa’s aviation sector.
The first initiative, the Integrated Aviation Transformation Program, seeks to unlock infrastructure investment, strengthen aviation institutions, and position African carriers as competitive global players.
