Speaking to reporters at a recent aviation conference in Montreal, ADM president and CEO Yves Beauchamp confirmed the ADM wants to build a decarbonization facility on Lot 20 — which includes the Dorval golf course, as well as the Monarch Fields — within the next ten or 20 years. Beauchamp said the ADM may also erect solar panels on the site to supplement its future energy needs and build storage facilities to hold hydrogen and other decarbonized fuels.

“We don’t want to let all of the lots become a conservation park,” Beauchamp said. “That would have as an effect to increase the wildlife that live there, notably the birds. That would go against safety. ... Transport Canada obliges us to take measures to ensure that passenger safety is a priority, and we must manage the lands to ensure wildlife doesn’t develop there. We have to manage these lands to avoid that.”
