Mexico’s Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA) is advancing an ambitious long-term expansion strategy structured across three development phases extending to 2052. The first phase, scheduled for completion by 2032, will increase annual passenger capacity to 20 million travelers. The expansion aligns with ongoing infrastructure investments and improved multimodal connectivity aimed at strengthening the airport’s role within Mexico’s aviation and logistics ecosystem.

Isidoro Pastor Román, Director General, AIFA, outlined the expansion roadmap after participating in a logistics panel organized by the Asociación Nacional de Empresas de Rastreo y Protección Vehicular (ANERPV). Pastor Román explained that reaching first-phase capacity will require sustained operational growth, with daily traffic between 50,000 and 54,000 passengers.

The second development phase will begin in 2032 with the construction of a mirrored passenger terminal designed to double annual capacity to 40 million travelers by 2042.

A third phase, projected for completion in 2052, will expand both terminals within the existing airport footprint, enabling the facility to accommodate up to 85 million passengers annually while maintaining operational efficiency and optimized space utilization...
